Vintage 1970's Natural Round Brilliant Cut Approx. 1 Ct Set in 14K White Gold Ring

Vintage 1970's natural round brilliant cut diamond ring. The diamond weight is estimated around 1 ct the diameter avg. is 6.42 mm. I was unable to measure the depth as it was graded and estimated set.

The diamond faces white but I would estimate it is an I color based on grading within the setting. I am a GIA graduate gemologist. I studied this diamond under the microscope and it is very clean--maybe there is a pin point or two but any dark areas you see in my pictures are the reflection of my black camera. Face on this is a clean whitish diamond. The cut is very good-appropriate table size-just really nice!

There is an unusual facet under the girdle -after studying it I don't think its a chip that occurred by the precious owner but a natural--which is a thoughtful cut by the diamond cutter that kept weight and it showcases the natural growth of the diamond-I can see the edge of the growth under a prong. This is not noticable by eye only by maginification and someone that's trained.

If you wanted to reuse this setting it does need a prong or two retipped. Currently it is a size 4.75 but our jeweler can resize for a fee.
