Vintage 1960s Brutalist 14K Gold Pear Diamond Ring – Main Diamond Approx. 1 Carat

A striking example of mid-century custom designed and made design, this authentic 1960's brutalist ring showcases bold architectural styling. Crafted in solid 14K yellow gold, the ring features an eye-catching pear-shaped natural diamond of approximately 1 carat (approx. 9 x 6.3 mm), set prominently at the center.

I am a GIA diamond graduate/ GG and have viewed this diamond under the micrscope. I estimate the color around H (its always hard to grade when a diamond is set but this shows whitish and the clarity is SI-I. It has a really interesting tiny crystal macle inclusion with possible garnet under an an upper hald facet. During the polishing phase it had a crystal that was lifted on the table-you can't see it by eye only under magnification. The shape is very pleasing to the eye and the cut is very good.

The sculptural setting is adorned with a dramatic arrangement of cascading gold elements and accent diamonds, creating a textured, almost fringe-like effect—hallmarks of the brutalist aesthetic, which emphasizes raw form, dimension, and artistic expression. This era favored bold, statement-making jewelry, often inspired by modernist art and architecture.

The previous owner added the curved band of round brilliant cut diamonds in the 1970's. They weigh approx. .50 with similar color and SI clarity.
