A beautiful example of a bold Victorian Etruscan revival piece. The center features an oval banded agate-bottom is dark brown, then medium brown to white. The figure is a women in profile-finely hand carved. You can see the indvidual curls in her hair, earrings, a brooch and a fine veil behind her hair. The cameo measures approx. 7/8" length x 5/8" wide. High relief and bezel set. The frame has wirework and bead accents, scroll work and a pearl. Original bale tucks behind to wear as a brooch.
In the edwardian area the c-clasp was switched out for a locking clasp. At the back bottom is a hook that you could add tassel.
A perfect piece for a collector of antique jewelry. The quality of the carving is outstanding.
Overall height with bale 2 1/4" length x 1 1/8" wide. 13.4 grams
