This is a beautiful Victorian Etruscan Revival gold brooch dating to around the 1870's.  It was tested by acid and auracle analyzer-the gold content tests around 9K-10K.  Back is unmarked.

The top features a centered oval cabochon cut reddish hue natural garnet prong set with a twisted rope border.  It sits upon three tiers with various designs.  1 1/2" wide (including the pin sticking out which is common on these older pieces) and 1 1/8" wide.  From this section hangs two draping rope chains. At the bottom is a oval mounting featuring a natural garnet in a slightly pinkish reddish hue.  9/16" wide x 3/4" length.

Total length 2 1/2"

C-clasp in good working order.

Overall this piece is in very good condition.  I did put check it under the microscope and noted on the top garnet has a small natural feather that a tiny part comes to the surface.  I can't see by loupe.  I am a GIA graduate.

Weight: 7.7 grams
