Antique Victorian Hand Carved Whitby Jet Huge Locket on Chain

If you have been wanting a whitby jet piece -here it is! Victorian era Large carved whitby jet locket with the abbey carved on front, smooth back, 2 1/4" top to bottom x 1 1/2" wide. It is attached by a cord (it came to me this way and I kept it) but this can easily be changed out to an o ring. The carving is very well done. There is a place on side to open it and the hinge is tight. Amazingly the frames and original material is inside. Snaps tightly. It hangs from a oval graduated link chain. Largest links are 1 1/4" wide and graduate down to 3/4" wide. Original black metal clip. There is some dirt on the back side chains-I didn't clean this piece but left it as it came to me. But it is an amazing example of whitby jet. Locket condition is unreal and coming on its original chain- wow!
