A beautiful antique sterling silver Scottish claymore sword brooch full hallmarks for Adie and Lovekin of Birmingham England 1906.
The brooch is a tad over 2-1/2" long and beautifully engraved and detailed. A gray blue cabochon agate nestles inside the basket hilt of the sword handle and the blade is set with slices of blue gray and banded marble. See the detail of the hand engraving all over.
A fine old example of a Scottish antique jewelry.
Sword brooches set with Scottish gemstones became very popular at the height of the "Scottish Pebble" craze that occurred after Queen Victoria purchased Balmoral Castle in Scotland. She set a fashion trend for Scottish jewelry which became highly collectable. Box not included.
